100 Voices - 100 women share their personal stories of achievement

100 Voices is an anthology of writing by women across the country on what achievement means for them

Featuring poetry, fiction and memoir, the pieces range from notes on making lemon curd, to tales of marathon running and riding motorbikes, to accounts of a refugee eating English food for the first time, a newlywed learning her mother tongue and a woman rebuilding her life after an abusive relationship. The poignant, funny and inspiring stories are as varied and diverse as their authors.

Taken together, they build a picture of what it’s really like to be a woman in the UK today.

The project started life as a podcast in 2018 to mark the centenary of the first women’s voting rights in the UK and celebrate modern women. The project brought together a diverse community of female identifying writers and storytellers from all backgrounds, identities, abilities and locations around the country. Each was asked to share a story of achievement from their lives, and they were published, one a day, over the period of 100 days. You can listen to the stories here, or on all good podcast providers.

The book was published by Unbound on 3 March 2022.
